The following information is about Driving.
Driving? A Basic Definition
To dream of driving a carriage, signifies unjust criticism of your seeming extravagance. You will be compelled to do things which appear undignified.
To dream of driving a public cab, denotes menial labor, with little chance for advancement. If it is a wagon, you will remain in poverty and unfortunate circumstances for some time. If you are driven in these conveyances by others, you will profit by superior knowledge of the world, and will always find some path through difficulties. If you are a man, you will, in affairs with women, drive your wishes to a speedy consummation. If a woman, you will hold men's hearts at low value after succeeding in getting a hold on them.

- NISSAN | NEWS PRESS RELEASE
- Newswise -- Research Studies Driver Distractions and Dashboard Design: "We are simulating how people use their attention while driving to better understand distractions such as navigation systems, cell phones and other portable wireless devices," said Central Michigan University psychology professor Richard Backs. "In normal situations, our driving performance is not affected by these distractions. We may think that we are driving safely, but physiological measures show how our attention is actually focused on these other devices. Through our research, we hope to learn how to minimize distractions from these types of devices."
- Newswise -- Complicated Mental Tasks Interfere with Drivers' Abilities: - Undertaking complex mental tasks can reduce a driver's ability to detect visual targets by as much as 30 percent. New research on driving in real traffic confirms that mental workload can interfere with the capacity to detect visual targets, discriminate among them, and select a response. Higher-level mental tasks take attentional resources away from the road, resulting in those all-too-famili ar post-accident reports: "I didn't expect it" or "I saw it too late." These findings appear in the June issue of the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied.
- Newswise -- Teen Drivers Often Ignore Bans on Using Cellphones and Texting: Teenage drivers' cellphone use edged higher in North Carolina after the state enacted a cellphone ban for young drivers, a new Institute study finds. This is the case even though young drivers and their parents said they strongly support the restrictions. Parents and teens alike believe the ban on hand-held and hands-free phone use isn't being enforced. Researchers concluded that North Carolina' s law isn't reducing teen drivers' cellphone use. The two-part study coupled researchers 39; observations of teenage drivers with telephone surveys of teens and their parents in the first evaluation of a cellphone law for young drivers. North Carolina' s ban for drivers younger than age 18 is part of the state's graduated licensing system.
- Newswise -- Cell Phone Users Drive Like Old Folks: When young motorists talk on cell phones, they drive like elderly people, moving and reacting more slowly and increasing their risk of accidents. ?If you put a 20-year-old driver behind the wheel with a cell phone, their reaction times are the same as a 70-year-old driver who is not using a cell phone. It?s like instantly aging a large number of drivers,? says David Strayer, a University of Utah psychology professor and principal author of the study.
- Newswise -- Drivers on Cell Phones are as Bad as Drunks: University of Utah psychologists have published a study showing that motorists who talk on handheld or hands-free cellular phones are as impaired as drunken drivers.
- Newswise -- Cell Phone Use in Cars Causes Tunnel Vision: Preliminary results of a University of Rhode Island analysis of the eye-movements of automobile drivers using cell phones found that the drivers have a reduced field of view -- tunnel vision. Further studies may have significant implications on the use of cell phones in automobiles.
- Newswise -- Drivers Make More Errors When Talking on Cell Phone than to a Passenger: Drivers make more mistakes when talking on a cell phone than when talking to passengers, new research shows. This finding addresses the common question about whether driver distraction comes from cell-phone use specifically or conversation generally. A full report appears in the December issue of the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied.
- Newswise -- Legislation to Curb Drivers' Use of Cell Phones Doesn't Work in the Longer Term: Legislation to ban people from using cell phones while driving doesn?t seem to work in the long term, without a sustained publicity and enforcement campaign. So suggests a study of the effects of a ban in New York State, reported in Injury Prevention.

- Newswise -- Talking Distractions: Study Shows Why Cell Phones and Driving Don't Mix: A better understanding of why language ? talking and listening, including on a cell phone ? interferes with visual tasks, such as driving was provided in a study by a University of South Carolina psychology researcher featured in the journal, Experimental Psychology, In two different experiments, associate professor of psychology Dr. Amit Almor found that planning to speak and speaking put far more demands on the brain?s resources than listening.
- Newswise -- Drivers Are Distracted More by Cell Phones than by Passengers: Drivers are far more distracted by talking on a cellular phone than by conversing with a passenger in an automobile, according to a new study by University of Utah psychologists Frank Drews, David Strayer and Monisha Pasupathi.
- Newswise -- Multitasking: You Can't Pay Full Attention to Both Sights and Sounds: The reason talking on a cell phone makes drivers less safe may be that the brain can?t simultaneously give full attention to both the visual task of driving and the auditory task of listening, a study by a Johns Hopkins University psychologist suggests.
- Newswise -- Survey: Ban Cell Phone Use in Cars: Most people would support a state law that makes it illegal to use a cell phone while driving, a new University of Michigan study indicates.
